From the Woodland Trust

"Thank you for sending through all of your evidence. You’ve certainly worked really hard on this project and we’re happy to record it as completed.

We are delighted that your school has completed the Platinum Challenge on our Green Tree Schools Award. You are our 23rd school to achieve this level.

UPDATE - Enclosing the Forest School site

On the 6th May Thrussington Primary school welcomed the students to fix the panels at the site. The project has been a real purpose for the students as part of their course work.

UPDATE - Enclosing the Forest School site

Students from Brooksby College have been extremely busy this term in creating hurdles to enclose the Forest School site. They are undertaking this project from scratch! Huge thanks to Dominic and his students for all their hard work.

Pushing for Platinum!

After being awarded the Bronze and Silver Awards in the Green Tree Award Scheme run by the Woodland Trust, Thrussington Primary School was recently awarded Gold.

Next up, Platinum!!

Building a cob oven

I recently visited another Forest School where I witnessed the children making their own pizza dough and then cooking outside in the fresh air in a cob oven that was built by a parent. This has inspired me to set a new challenge of building a cob oven on the Thrussington site.

I am in discussions with a couple of dads who are willing to provide support.

Details will follow as the project develops.

Enclosing the Forest School site

Now the site is up and running we would like to surround the site with weaved or willow fencing to keep it in line with the natural environment.

We are working with a local college as part of an apprenticeship scheme.

Details on how the project is going will follow.

Resource Centre

During the summer holidays a resource centre was added to the site. This is a great addition which will enable the children the opportunity to readily access the resources to expand and consolidate their learning.

It will also help provide shelter if it rains!
